* The state of Oregon requires that you be at least 18 years or older to register as a river guide.
* A completed application with as much detail as possible.
* A general resume detailing pervious work experience, educational background and any river runner/guide or other
leadership experience you have, must also accompany your application.
* A $100.00 application process fee must be attached to your application (applied to the tuition of successfull
applicants but not refundable once you have been accepted into ORS guide school).
* Your attendance at all ORS river guide training sessions is mandatory a single "no show" will result in
the forfeiture of your tuition and will disqualify you from the training program.
The Application Process:
You will have to fulfill the above "Basic Requirements" and agree to the terms to proceed with this application,
incomplete applications will not be considered. Completing the "basic requirements" does not guarantee that you will
receive an interview or that you will be accepted into the ORS guide training school. A whitewater/river running
background would be advantageous but also, not a guarantee that you will be accepted for guide training.
Having no river experience at all will not automatically disqualify you from advancing to the training phase.
Do not apply to the ORS guide school if you can not commit to the training dates and without the intention of
working as a river guide on whitewater rivers in Oregon. (A clue; be sure of your intentions, your commitment
and pay attention to the "Basic Requirements") Those individuals not accepted for training will receive a full
refund.
What You Get:
For the 2008 ORS River Guide Training School we are accepting the first ten qualified candidates to our guide school,
six will be guaranteed a guide positions at ORS for the 2006 season and the balance will be placed on our "first
call" list. All successful graduates will receive Whitewater Rescue Technician and Wilderness First Aid certifications,
recognized by outfitters in Oregon the USA and other parts of the world and will identify you as a competent whitewater
professional. You will also receive extensive on the water river running training time. Please keep in mind that
applications with no river running experience may still need more time praticing on class III/IV whitewater beyond
what is offered during our guide school.
Your Interview:
If your application is accepted you will be notified about a time and date your interview will take place.
Not all people interviewed will be guaranteed acceptance into our guide school. No applicants will be accepted into
guide school without an interview.
Tuition:
2008 ORS Guide Training School, $895.00
Payment Schedule:
Payment in full by 2/25/08 10% discount, $805.50 (-$100.00 Application Fee)=$705.50
Three Payment Tuition Plan:
First Payment $300.00 due on 2/22/08
Second Payment $300.00 due on 3/1/08
Third Payment $295.00 (-100.00 Application Fee) = $195.00 due on 3/15/08
* All payments are no-refundable, if student drops out for other than medical reasons.
At which time, money will be refunded according to the training completed.
* All river running equipment will be provided, on over night trips food and gear will be provided,
except for sleeping bags, tents and personal items.
